Sleep Crimes – Twin Geeks (Rubber Tracks)

August 14, 2015 by Rafi

We hosted and met so many bands during the 18 month long residency of Converse’s Rubber Tracks pop up studio that we’ve completely lost track of everyone who visited! Here’s a great couple of loud sludgy rocker from Sleep Crime. I’d love to know what was going on with the guitars, the fuzz is fantastically lush! Engineered by Matt Beaudoin in Studio A.

The Ballroom Thieves & MYRO – Archers

April 28, 2015 by Rafi

Live from Studio A, under the meticulously watchful ears of Matt Baudoin, comes this great performance of the song Archers by The Ballroom Thieves and the Maine Youth Rock Orchestra.  Really fun watching this large ensemble fill Studio A, hearing Matt’s recording and (rough!) mix of this track, knowing it was all captured within the span of a few hours (under the auspices of a Rubber Tracks session).

Soft Fangs – Point of View

January 22, 2015 by Staff Engineer

Soft Fangs’ light and airy vocals pierce through this laid-back acoustic recording, bringing a cool perspective in his track and live video, “Point of View” – engineered by Q’s veteran producer Matt Beaudoin, filmed and edited by Michael Chew as a part of Converse Rubber Tracks productions.

Thank you everyone for acknowledging Q through the Thank you everyone for acknowledging Q through the BMA’s - we’re lucky and grateful to our incredible engineers, producers, musicians, and interns (a top notch crop from 2015 seen here!), who - through their love of music and musicians - all come together to make recording at Q the special experience it is. A few weeks ago we took delivery of Mitch Easter’s Chamberlin M1. With analog tapes that are a time capsule from a forgotten era, this magical machine has the sounds of vibes, female voices, male voices, cello, harpsichord, violins, flutes, and french horns...
We have a bit of an embarrassment of riches of analog tape samplers at Q, but as you might know or can guess, these beasts are incredibly temperamental and not always on their best behavior, but when they're working well there's nothing quite like these incredible machines.
