Studio A is open again & booking sessions! We’re deep into over 30 years of recording, supporting, and bringing together the Boston music community.

It’s been five years since Mike Denneen aka The It’s been five years since Mike Denneen aka The Sheriff left the building. Check the link in the IG bio for his discography on Spotify - check it out and let us know where you land… guster, letters_to_cleo, fountainsofwaynesworld, and so so many amazing artists, songs and albums. Photos by Tom Dube (soundslingertom) and Lisa Garner.
Aside from all the rockers, fantastic players, pro Aside from all the rockers, fantastic players, producers, engineers, and musicians we meet, we also host a wide variety of talented artists from other walks of life. Yesterday we hosted Chris and Mel (bgsandsculptures)- award winning sand sculpture artists who were in recording some VO for a future show about their art. It was a treat to hear a little about their craft! Seen here with chuck.hargreaves and me, mr.distorter.

Not just the rug, but recordingstudiodesigner and Not just the rug, but recordingstudiodesigner and soundwallconstruction really pulled this room together and helped get Q3.0 to the cover of mixonlineig (though in all fairness there was a large crew that helped open this place!). If you haven’t heard, our new Studio A is open for tracking and mixing. Read all about it in Mix Magazine, or drop us a line, swing by, or visit the website!

And oh, btw....
WE'RE NOW FINALLY BOOKING STUDIO A - STARTING FROM THIS WEEKEND WE'RE FREAKING OPEN AGAIN!
On our (very long) way to opening our doors to the On our (very long) way to opening our doors to the general public (APRIL 15th!) we've been hosting sessions and working out some kinks. willdaileyofficial was kind enough to put up with our incomplete status and brought in a crew of fantastic musicians to track his new album. It was a bit of a trial by fire - we envision this room being used exactly this way - folks together in a room - tracking live, using all of the various acoustic spaces and isolation booths. Will's band included fancyassmusic, rohrjames, valauskased, joewmcmahon, codynilsen, ken.clark.1694, a.sternmusic, brophydrums, with jbmoney33 engineering (and of course alongside Coco - one of the finest studio pups!). They knocked out a bunch of tunes and gave us a real good feel for what's working and what could be better.
AND - not only did they record a bunch of tunes, they even live-streamed the session a couple of times a day, so folks could tune in and get a front row seat and witness the process - unvarnished, unfiltered. Check out some of these photos that I (mr.distorter) took.
Here's our big news... Studio A is ready! At long Here's our big news... Studio A is ready!
At long last, we’re looking forward to introducing you to our new 2800 square feet of our main recording room.
Q’s Neve 8068 is spic and span - inside and out (more of the restoration story soon), and we have a big - currently lonely- live room that’s waiting to be filled with you. The performance studio includes a large high-ceiling central space, a sizable live isolation room (we’re calling it The Drum Room), and a very dead room we’re calling The Piano Room. We’ve prioritized sight lines between all these rooms and also into the control room. There are two additional small isolation booths for amps, and an area we’re calling “The Inspiration Wall” which we find visually and acoustically… um… inspiring.
So give us a call - after almost two years of working on this space - we’re looking forward to hearing you in it!
FAQ’s:
When?
We’re now booking sessions starting from April 15th and beyond.
Where?
171 Rindge Ave. It's behind 169 Rindge and across from the Reservoir Church.
Parking?
You can reach us easily from three MBTA stops - Porter Square, Davis Square, and Alewife. We have limited parking in our driveway for artists, and there’s a bit of guest/non-permit parking in the neighborhood. More details on our website.
How Much?
We’ve built a brand new facility and put an incredible amount of effort into restoring the Neve, and well - the world’s come a long way since 1986 - so our rates have gone up. BUT - while we’re still building Studio B, we’re offering an introductory rate. Check in with Ed or any of us via email or phone for all the details.

So some of the old artwork just won’t make it to So some of the old artwork just won’t make it to a wall in the new studio, no reason it can’t live forever here, right? This is an excellent First Aid For Choking poster from the New York Health department that hung in the B dining room area for a while. It’s worth zooming in for the user mods.
