Check it out – our new rooms have new floors – Check it out – our new rooms have new floors – and this means the next stage of construction really and truly is underway! Lou Clark and Eric Pearce are onsite, building and installing room treatments, indicating that we’re finally more than half way there. We can see the beginning of the end of this long process! When will we be ready to open our doors? That’s a great question, and it’s been a moving target.  We’re following the “don’t book your record release until you’ve got the vinyl from the pressing plant” rule and not saying until we know we can do it- you’ll just have to keep reading our updates.

Stay tuned, keep safe, vote for gun safety and women’s rights..
Best from all of us at Q.
There are so many reasons we love this… not the There are so many reasons we love this… not the least of which is @chuck.hargreaves’ and the rest of Field Day’s excellence! They’re playing a show on Sunday with our old pal from Winter Pills! And, of course we aren’t immune to a bit of nostalgia for our most recent studio B…

A week from tonight! Field Day at @rockwellthtr with @landladyband and @winterpills! Yes, it’s a Mother’s Day show. Yes, this is a knotty love song from a mother to her daughter. Grab tickets at the link in bio.

We were pleased to be able to host future engineer We were pleased to be able to host future engineers from Zumix last week. We showed them our Neve tech shop and the two studios we’re building… Can’t wait to have them back when we’re finished with construction, and we hope some become future Q Interns.:.

Last week our young people in Live! and Studio got to visit the build site of the new @QDivisionStudios! We saw the restoration in progress of a monster analog console and the bones of the new control room's double layer soundproof walls. Big thanks to Rafi and Matt for letting us know about what it takes to intern at Q Division!

Edge connectors - there’s a lot. All the connect Edge connectors - there’s a lot. All the connectors range from 10 to 22 pins long. With pins on both sides of each one, there are 580 pins per channel. Multiply that by 32 channels and you get 18,560 pins (quadruple checked the math on that before posting). We’re scrubbing each one to make sure all connections are solid throughout the board…
“What?? You put it in water??” Yep. This is ca “What?? You put it in water??” Yep. This is called ‘Ultrasonic Cleaning’ and it basically does exactly what you’d expect. To put it simply, the high frequencies (27-42kHz) cause microscopic bubbles to form and burst, knocking years of dirt and dust build up out of these patch bays. We also did the same for each one of our modules in the Neve. It works too - keep scrolling to check out the difference between the wash and rinse tanks. HEADS UP: Last slide is a video showcasing the awesome sound they make while on. If you’re into distortion, you’ll appreciate how it absolutely obliterates the phone mic. It’s, uh, fun…in a masochistic sorta way…
Hello world! Chuck here - super excited to take ov Hello world! Chuck here - super excited to take over the Instagram for a bit. I’ll try to show all the behind the scenes work that’s been going on while we get Q3.0 underway. Stay tuned for a bunch of posts showing what’s happening under all those knobs and faders…🎛🎚
Hey - check out @chuck.hargreaves! Chuck's been in Hey - check out @chuck.hargreaves! Chuck's been involved in almost all aspects of the Neve restoration project, overseeing a myriad of logistic puzzles and sticky situations! He's going to take over the Q Instagram account for a bit. And hey - don't let Chuck's Neve chops throw you - he's a fantastic engineer and drummer - currently playing with @fielddaymusic, and like the rest of us waiting to get back into the engineering/producing seat.

I've added a picture of the current state of our new tech room - which is also the machine room for Studio A at Q3.0. Anyway - stay tuned for whatever madness Chuck shares!
@heliumcell1 gave us a heads up about this… how @heliumcell1 gave us a heads up about this… how cool.
…. got Guster’s first record “Parachute” on vinyl and the gatefold is dedicated to Mike, which is just so nice. Good on those guys. What a great gesture. [addendum: someone seems to have messed up the credits on the artwork and managed to leave off Milt Sutton, also deceased…which takes a little of the edge off the good deed]
It was sunny yesterday & it was the first time Q3. It was sunny yesterday & it was the first time Q3.0’s solar panels went online! We’re psyched to be able to offset some of our not insignificant energy consumption with renewable energy. Plans include an EV charging station in our (much smaller) parking lot… Recharge while you rock?! Why not?
